The Rangers spent $112 million on Yu Darvish this year and it looks to be paying off so far. Blanking the Yankees for 8 1/3 innings couldn't be a better way to embarass A-Rod and its teammates in Arlington. If you were at his amazing pitching performance, you saw a dizzying array of pitches, from a 4 seamer to 3 different speed curveballs and a killer breaking ball. And, Yu had the Yankees hitting nothing but air as he fanned 10 from what should be a powerful lineup.

Yes, the Yankees had never faced him before, but that's not an excuse. No one else has in the MLB either! I think Yu may lose a little bit of his effectiveness, as other teams break down his pitches, but Yu's sheer range of pitches will still keep batters guessing. Also, be on the lookout for how Yu handles the extreme Texas heat this summer. We know it's rough as a fan in the stands, but imagine Yu out there mid-July in a 105 degree blaze? This has to effect him somewhat, but who knows, we'll see in a couple months.

Even when Darvish falters, as he loaded the bases early in the game, he seems to sneak out in tough situations. The Yankees only had two instances when they at runners in scoring position, yet Darish tightened up and got out of the innings unscathed.

So far Yu Darish is standing at a 3-0, which is impressive for sure. The Rangers' starting pitchers have started strong earning them an April-record lead over the Angels in the division. Now, if Darvish
stays consistent (and Holland as well), these Rangers can achieve 100 wins this season.
